The practical design of the Monterey Storage Platform Bed with Bookcase Headboard by Prepac combines extra large drawers for plenty of storage space with a slat support system. Wood slats positioned lengthwise distribute body weight evenly. Twin bed has 3 large drawers and the remaining sizes have 6 large drawers. The drawers positioned below the bed are easy to access and great for storing clothing, magazines, toys or other items. The drawers open easily from the bottom, eliminating the need for external knobs or pulls that can catch bed clothing. The Monterey Storage Platform Bed with Bookcase Headboard requires only a mattress and can be used alone or combined with other bedroom storage furniture like the Prepac Cubbie Bench. The bed is made from composite woods, wood slats, metal supports and high quality hardware. This bed is shipped flat packed in cartons for easier handling. Adult assembly required!
The compartments of this 11" deep bookcase style headboard provide ample space for bedside reading material, clocks and teddy. The twin headboard has 2 compartments and the full/queen and king have 3 compartments. The full/queen size central compartment has an adjustable shelf. The king size center compartment is divided into 3 small cubbies in the upper half and the lower half remains open.
Please note: the Monterey Storage Platform Bed and Bookcase Headboard do not attach to each other. The bed is designed to rest against the headboard which is placed against the wall.
When ordering the Full size bed, the bed is designed to hold a standard Full size mattress while the Headboard is a standard Queen size.
The King size bed is only available in the cherry finish.

Bookshelf Headboard, storage bed
The quality of workmanship on these two kits was impressive. As I assembled the headboard and bed, I had a strong feeling that the people who created the pieces cared about their job. Everything fit together perfectly. I took a bit more time to assemble than the instructions, but I wanted to make sure I didn't have to take anything apart because I wasn't paying attention. The only trouble I ran into was with the Jnuts in the head and foot boards. I didn't push five of them into the holes far enough, and it was difficult to twist the screws in. On a wish list: have the backing on the headboard screw in instead of nail, and have at least one knock-out on the headboard backing. A small electric screwdriver came in very hand with assembling the bed's storage drawers.
